Our History
University Place Self-guided Public Art Tour UP for Art is pleased to present an online map and background information for a tour of some of the public art in University Place. The tour is self-guided and involves an eight-mile loop around the city with twelve different art stops. Click on this link to take you to the virtual tour: UP for Art - CommunityWalk Driving instructions from stop to stop and a map of the entire loop can be printed by clicking on the car icon in the blue bar in the middle of the screen UP for Art is currently working on several projects to facilitate the inclusion of public art as the City’s redevelopment efforts move forward. These projects include: Establishing a formalized process for calls to artists, Providing assistance to private developers interested in including public art in their projects Facilitating maintenance on existing public art within the community. Meetings: UP for Art meets the third Tuesday of the month at 7:00 at City Hall. The work the group undertakes requires a wide range of skills and experience. Membership is NOT limited to artists. UP for Art takes pride in the flexibility with which it approaches projects so that members can participate when they are available. Anyone interested is welcome.
